24th ANNUAL CELEBRITY PUMPKIN CONTEST – OCTOBER 24-27, 2019
WHAT: Local Celebrities, Politicians, Media Personalities and community-minded businesses will decorate/paint/bling-out/carve a Pumpkin for the cause – in the name of Autism! Over 100 pumpkins will be transformed to Jack-O-Lantern works of art for one of Ottawa’s most popular, annual, seasonal fundraising events! Helping to raise funds for Autistic children, Celebrity-Carvers include Members of Ottawa City Council, Ottawa Senators, local MP’s & MPP’s, Sports Alumni – as well as many Local Businesses - to name just a few. You can vote for the best pumpkin or your favourite personality by donating your spare change and purchasing Prize Ballots, as well as bidding on Pumpkin Prize Packages (on-line www.childrenatrisk.ca)
ONLINE CHARITY AUCTIONS
WHEN: Thursday, October 24 to Sunday, October 27, 2019
WHERE: Merivale Mall, Carlingwood Shopping Centre, Place d’Orléans and Billings Bridge (Displays at Carlingwood, Place d’Orléans & Billings will start on October 25)
WHY: For over 40 years, Children at Risk has been helping children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders & their families in the Ottawa Region. October is Autism Awareness Month and, to recognize this, Children at Risk will be hosting the pumpkin displays. Proceeds will fund Community-Based Special Projects such as our Summer Camp, Camp Kaleidoscope, Family Support Groups, Respite Sessions, Information Seminars, Educational Training Workshops - assists solely supported by fundraising and donations. To date, this event has raised $155,951!

Children At Risk's Pumpkin Fundraising Event - FAQ
Join us in celebrating our 24th year hosting our Pumpkin Autism Awareness Fundraising event where celebrities and businesses create wonderfully decorated pumpkins and provide prize package that can be bid on at our online auction at Childrenatrisk.vonality.com
There are 4 ways you can participate in this event
- Go online and Bid on the Vonality Auction site from 5 a.m. Friday until 3.00 p.m. on Sunday. Go to childrenatrisk.vonality.com to register.
- Purchase Ballot tickets - use these or loose change to vote for your favourite pumpkin or celebrity by putting the tickets or change into the collection pots in front of each pumpkin - a great way for young kids to get involved. Ballot tickets cost $1 for 1 - $2 for 3 - $5 for 10
- Bid on the 6x Mall only Pumpkin Packages. Each mall has its own 6 packages available until bidding closes at 3.30 p.m. Sunday 27th Oct. These are NOT Online.
- Make a donation to acquire a Toy Schoenhut® Piano. Two types available, Fancy Baby Grand with bench in black and Table Top Upright piano in Red.
Bidding At The Malls
2018 saw us move from ending the auction with bidding continuing at the Malls to just on-line bidding. We heard the feedback that bidding at the mall was missed, so new for 2019 we have 6 packages at each mall that can only be bid on by visiting the Mall. Each Mall has packages with themes including Halloween, Christmas, Star Wars, Bling, Beauty and Pampering. These packages are accompanied by Pumpkins decorated by Art students from Sir Guy Carleton High School. Bid sheets will be available until 3.30 p.m. on Sunday 27th October.
Who are the Celebrity Carvers?
Newspaper, Radio, Television and Sports personalities along with Ward, Provincial and Federal Politicians and any businesses or private individuals that wish to participate. All have graciously taken the time to Face carve or decorate a pumpkin and provide prize packages to tempt bidders. All funds raised are for Children At Risk as all 3rd party companies have generously offered their goods or services.
Where are the Pumpkins Located?
You can choose to bid only on those Pumpkins at your nearest Mall by clicking on the Mall Name to the left of the on-line auction page. Otherwise, you can check out all pumpkins packages. Each one will clearly identify where the pumpkin is located. On Thursday, 24th October, the greatest amount of pumpkins are on display before being distributed to the other 3 Malls.
