Children at Risk was founded as a registered charity in 1979 for the purpose of providing training and support to families with children who are diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Betty-Lou Stephens, a current resident at the Promenade Retirement Residence was the founder of Children At Risk. Her bravery and devotion to her child prompted her to start Children At Risk at a time when little was known about Autism. Her vision has given many parents hope and strength in dealing with a child diagnosed with autism. We plan to honour Betty-Lou for her achievements.
